I’ve never been able to beat Castlevania 1 or 3 but I always have fun hopping into those games. I also have Castlevania, Castlevania 3, and Circle of the Moon in rotation on the Wii U as well. Other than that I fired up Zombi U on my Wii U and while only under 2 hours in I think I’m really enjoying it. It’s not a bad game and I always have fun play sessions, but its repetitiveness can really wear thin. Well, I started the month playing a lot of State of Decay 2, i seem to come back to it every October, have a blast for a few days and then grow incredibly bored with it. Especially when one of them is always conveniently the person who has to run back to the truck for just one more thing. On the games side of things, I am hoping to check out the new Phasmophobia maps/updates because that game is still a blast when you play with a close group of friends. It is an adaptation of a Gogol short story and is a blast of a time imo, at least for something produced in 1967.
RULE OF ROSE 2 MOVIE
The other stand out so far is Viy which is the first (and likely only) horror movie produced in the Soviet Union. Impetigore is a very different movie, but I thoroughly enjoyed it especially given that it has multiple plot points that revolve around shadow puppetry/gamelan music. I was familiar with Joko Anwar’s name because my partner and I watched Gundala last year on a whim and it was a fun time, mostly for having actually well shot fight sequences. The lists are always hit or miss due to trying to keep with the theme, but there’s definitely been some stand outs this year. I haven’t been fully keeping up but i have the next few days off work so I’m hoping to catch up. Hardcore horror fans will be pleased with Rule of Rose, but less devout gamers might end up disappointed.Haven’t been playing much of anything, but my friends and I have consistently done a themed list the past few Octobers and this year’s is folk horror. However, while the game is good, it's not $500 good. Its unbelievable storytelling and obscure way of tackling controversial themes put the game in a league of its own. That being said, it is easy to see why Rule of Rose gained such a large cult following. The game could have been one of the best horror games to come out of the sixth console generation, if it wasn't for its absolutely horrendous combat mechanics. Rule of Rose is an extremely unique horror title that will take players on an emotional rollercoaster. Related: Everything We Know about Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Heart of the Forest It holds the game back so much that it nearly ruins the entire experience. Rule of Rose would be a survival horror masterpiece if it wasn't for its shoddy combat. Fighting enemies is beyond frustrating and will induce rage in even the most tranquil gamer. On the flip side, enemies can kill Jenifer rather easily by landing a few strong blows or by overwhelming her with multiple adversaries. On the rare occasion Jenifer manages to strike an opponent, it barely has an effect. Jenifer's attacks rarely hit their mark and often go straight through an enemy without causing any damage. A 6-track promotional CD came with select pre-ordered copies of the game and have become very sought after by collectors.Īlthough Rule of Rose has amazing storytelling and a phenomenal soundtrack, it does have one fatal flaw: It has some of the absolute worst combat mechanics ever seen in a video game.

Its minimalistic style really captures the chilling essence of the game and complements every scene wonderfully.

The music consists of mostly orchestral instruments that evoke both fear and sadness from players. Rule of Rose also has an exceptional soundtrack that matches the game's somber tone perfectly. Related: Mass Effect: The Relationship of Thane and Kolyat Krios, Revealed Rule of Rose is an immensely emotional title that will pull on a player's hard strings more than most other video games. She is constantly berated by the other children, no matter how hard she tries to please them. It's hard not to feel sorry for Jennifer, as things never end up in her favor. Its plot is told in a very artistic fashion that is as beautiful as it is disturbing. The storytelling in Rule of Rose is simply incredible.
